Dear brother Aksel,
God’s grace and peace.

Thank you for your very good letter. I see that you are doing well and that you wish you could live alone in quietness. Yes, that is the best thing in this world: living solely in the presence of God in rest and confidence; standing before God’s face and listening to His voice. Can you imagine anything more exalted or a deeper rest here on earth? We should not be anxious about our works; it is not the quantity of our works but their quality that is important. God longs to have people who will live before Him. There are plenty of people who live before people. And when we seek His (God’s) honor in all things, God will not allow us to be put to shame. So I was happy that you wrote about living in quietness. There are, however, two kinds of quietness: the quietness of death and an attentive quietness. Let us choose the latter with all vigilance.

Br. Andresen (the happy bricklayer) was here for a few days, and I cannot speak highly enough about him. He prayed night and day and was a great blessing. You know how Kristian suffered so much from constipation. Recently, he had not been able to have a bowel movement without the aid of an enema. Then a brother from Moss gave me some advice, and I bought Haarlem Oil and gave him 2 to 3 drops in some wine. But it must have gotten absorbed into his bloodstream instead of unblocking his stomach, because he had heart palpitations during the night, and he sat straight up in bed screaming because his heart was pounding. I asked God to spare his life, and his heart rate dropped, but it was tough on him. I told this story to Br. Andresen, who then prayed and laid hands on him a couple of times. Since that time we haven’t had to use an enema on him, and he has been able to have a bowel movement without the aid of an enema or any other treatments. It has been difficult. But today he felt a bit unwell, and this evening he had a huge bowel movement, so it was just diarrhea. God is good, praise His name! Greet Br. Andresen warmly from us, and let him know how it has gone with little Kristian, because he wanted to be kept updated on his condition. He is now in Larvik and Kongsberg. I believe he will be a great blessing in Kristiansand because he teaches people to pray.

You mentioned the article in Missionæren. It was a joy to hear that some people have become bold and have started thinking. Naturally, a little article like that cannot cover everything. Its limitations can be easily pointed out, and that will give our opposers the opportunity to take issue with things that are not even mentioned in the article. We understand in part, and we speak in part. However, I have placed the whole matter in God’s hands, because I am not interested in defending myself. It is for the sake of the truth as the truth, that according to the grace God gives, I have attempted to get rid of some of this absolutely false teaching that has permeated the vast majority of the children of God who have been liberated from the law. Quite a few have ended up in false liberty and have thereby fallen into all kinds of sins. That’s why it is absolutely vital that something be said about it. There are now many brothers and sisters who received the Spirit during the recent revival, and it would be tragic if they all fell prey to these wretched doctrines. People embrace such teachings because they are afraid of coming into bondage. However, the truth has the innate ability to make people free, so there is no need to be afraid of acknowledging it. This afternoon I spoke with Br. Engstrøm and both Tollefsens on the telephone. They were with Axel Wold in Moss, and they asked me to come over, but I was unable to do so. The Tollefsens will not be coming here, but Engstrøm will come.

Brotherly greetings to you and Berglioth.

Yours in Christ,

Johan
