Grace and peace.
Thank you for your good letter and for your rough draft, which contained very many good thoughts. I still have not had time to work with it, but God will guide us in each step here too. I am glad that you sent the article to Father as well as to Alfine Torjussen. On Wednesday, Br. Berg read your German tract out loud at the meeting and was explaining about the love that comes as we grow up to the Bridegroom. Mrs. Knudsen was going to do everything she could to get a hold of these truths that she has not quite grasped yet. I was not at that meeting, but Br. Berg told me about it. The other day, he said that a person can’t say that they are apprehended of Christ until they have tasted this love, and he said that now he is going to write to his parents about this.
Br. Ellefsen has been given a two-year leave of absence to travel to America and work as a draftsman. He said, “The last article in Missionæren, translated from German, fits me perfectly; I saw myself so clearly in it.” Ellefsen is a brother who loves the truth. May God help him and be near him in America. I have not yet heard any details about his trip.
Br. Ellefsen said that if God should lead you to publish a little paper, he would take on the task of getting it distributed over there. We were together at Pauline Roa’s this morning and agreed that you are well equipped to publish a little paper (Rays of Light, or whatever you want to call it). God has led you to many places, so you have made a considerable number of acquaintances. This is why I believe you are just the right man for the job. I do not base this exclusively on the fact that you have acquaintances, but there are a number of factors that are working together. You have plenty of opportunity now while you are up there, and you are full of enthusiasm. To put out such a small paper once a month, for one krone per year, would be manageable, and it would be profitable. What little earnings you would make from the paper could go toward your living expenses. Here in Horten we would help you distribute the paper as we are able, and I am certain that such a paper would be a timely help for many believers here in Norway and in other countries. Your previous work would definitely provide a basis for this new undertaking. I will help you with material for the paper according to the grace God gives. The entire venture must be in God through Christ Jesus. The paper’s viability must not be left in the hands of the subscribers. It must be in God’s hands, so that, free from all, we can preach the whole counsel of God to the extent that He, in His love, has revealed it to us. This is the only kind of a paper that God will be able to bless. Through such a paper we would be able to shout from the rooftops what God reveals in secret. We could try it for a year to see how it goes. This is just a suggestion! In any case, the conditions are ripe for promoting a wide distribution of the paper, and even if people don’t like it, they will subscribe anyway because the content deals with reality. As far as I know, no such paper exists anywhere in Scandinavia. Denmark would probably want a few subscriptions. We could start in December with a trial edition, and all of 1910 could be a trial year. I think everything has come together very nicely to bring us to this point.
I have been thinking a lot about Eph. 3:10 but have not gotten to the bottom of it yet. However, I think I see some glimpses: God uses us for greater and greater works as we mature in doing works with our focus on the fact that He is to be honored—so that, just like Daniel, we honor God whether we are exalted in the king’s counsels or we are in the lion’s den. To sit in the king’s counsel is obviously highly esteemed in the eyes of men, and to be among the lions is despised, but the manifold wisdom of God will be revealed when our honor is to do His will and seek His honor.
Hearty greetings, your brother,
JohanPauline sends her greetings.
