Grace and peace in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Rom. 8:3. Read this verse, pause, and thoughtfully consider: “He condemned sin in the flesh.”
Our mind is being liberated from the flesh. The law of the Spirit liberates us, and has liberated us, from the law of sin and death, that law which is found in our members. Rom. 7:23. In so doing, sin is condemned in the flesh, because the law of sin and death is rendered powerless so it can no longer connect with our mind, with which we serve the law of God. Growth in God comes through a continuous process of separation from the law of sin in our members and a continuous liberation from the law of sin and death. Sin will thereby be separated from my mind and condemned in the flesh––in the body. The body will never become free from the law of sin and death, but we are given the power to bring our entire body into subjection. The apostle Paul also speaks about this.
In this way, the “body of sin” is being done away with. Sin is being cleansed from our mind and returned to the body and condemned there.
This is very difficult to explain clearly, but by the grace of God, I hope that both you and Aksel understand this separation through these few pointers. It is vital to understand this clearly in order to be able to clearly explain the liberation in Christ.
Yesterday we were in Tønsberg and had a very blessed Bible study. Light shone for the friends there, and now they are praying for wisdom from God. They have rejected that destructive false light and have received the word, as it is in truth: the word of God.
We all rejoiced greatly together. Karl, Johansen, Ellefsen, and I were all there. The meeting began at 5 p.m. and ended at 7 p.m. Afterwards, they had prepared a meal for us at Sr. Halvorsen’s, where the conversation continued with the friends until about 8:30 or 9 p.m. Then we lit our lanterns and rode home on our bicycles. The word of God is making inroads everywhere, and we rejoice that you are in the school of Tyrannus. There you have a wonderful task indeed with abundant resources; for if the oil in the lamp runs out, we have enough in the vessel––a vast ocean, which contains all things that pertain to life and godliness.
Just these few words, with greetings from all of us here to both you and Aksel. Karl received a card from you today, and Johansen showed me a card from Aksel. Ellefsen got your card.
Yours,
Johan
