Thank you so much for the last time we were together. Your progress in our Lord Jesus Christ and your zeal for Him and His kingdom has been a great comfort and encouragement to all of us. Your work in Him has not been in vain. We received the postcard you sent to Aksel. But today I received a letter from him saying that he had gone to Arendal. From there he will be traveling with Eriksen to Kristiania next Monday morning. We were very happy to hear that Br. Gerar, along with several others, wants to have Bible studies. Take advantage of this open door. Now that Aksel is coming, you should discuss that matter with him. God has richly blessed you with knowledge and with the insight of wisdom, so you must not be afraid to give instruction by yourself, if Aksel is not always able to be there. This will also be a real education for you, and your most essential work in the Lord will most likely be as a teacher—with your face set toward Jerusalem. Take on this work, dear brother, and don’t let your youth hinder you in the work which older ones should have done. For the same reason, do not allow anyone who is older to despise you for this, as Paul exhorted Timothy in 1 Tim. 4:12, because those who are older are not always the oldest. Neither are the young always the youngest. Wisdom that is not concealed, coupled with understanding, is the right old age. Therefore, take on this work—the sooner the better—with these Bible studies, so the flock of people who are bearing their cross can increase. Concentrate all your strength on this holy, goal-oriented work, and in the end it will become your honor and crown of glory.
If we set high goals, we will reach a high goal. But this can only be attained by continuing in lowliness and in those things that are not highly esteemed, for over everything glorious there lies a covering.
Greet Aksel, and a warm greeting to you from your brother,
Johan
