Thank you for your good letter. It was a great joy for me to read Sr. Dannell’s letters, which I sent to Br. Kvalheim, in Moldøen, and then on to the assembly in Ålesund, with the request to return them to you. I received a letter today from Br. Kvalheim, who tells—or rather writes—as follows:
“Dear Br. Smith, I rejoiced when I heard about your true son in the faith, the beloved Br. Ellefsen in Vardø, about how he helps souls come onto a wholesome path. A sister from Nordfjord, Anna Nagelsaker Noringdal, has been in my home for 3 days, on her way home from Vardø. She has told us about the beloved Br. Ellefsen’s labor up there. She has been particularly blessed to hear him speak about the powers of the world to come. God bless Br. Ellefsen! Sr. Nagelsaker was so happy and confident in Jesus; I wish you could have seen and heard her. Praise God. She subscribed to Skjulte Skatter and decided to go to the gathering with friends (conference with friends) this summer.”
It was also a joy for me, dear brother, that this sister ended up in Br. Kvalheim’s home.
Now I understand this word a little better, that the Lord is able to do greater things than we can even understand to ask Him for. Kvalheim’s address is: D. Kvalheim, Moldøen.
I have been granted leave for about 8 days, beginning this evening. We are now finished in Odda, as far as I understand, and the Valkyrjen is likely sailing to Haugesund soon; but I probably won’t arrive until the evening of May 6. At that point, we will only have a short time to be together. However, the Lord’s will and ways are better than our will and our ways.
You will rejoice to hear that Br. Kvalheim’s wife has now had a breakthrough. She wrote a letter to me, which was enclosed in her husband’s letter, saying that now she understands what it means to have peace like a river. Br. Kvalheim says that there are battles and conflicts right now.
I sent Sr. Dannell’s most recent letter to Br. Nils Risnes, and I received a letter from him today. He included a letter to you from Sr. Dannell. This letter was very good, and I will take it back with me to Eastern Norway, so that the ones who are there can rejoice together with us over the Lord’s work in the west and the north.
Your faithfulness in the Spirit is a gift from the Lord and a great comfort and benefit in the church. May God continue to bless you and your labor.
Your devoted brother,
Johan
