Dear Br. Theodor Ellefsen,
God’s peace.

Thank you for your good letter that I received recently. Greetings also from the brothers on board the Tordenskjold. Br. Kvalheim visited them on the warship, and we have been with them here on board—we’re currently in dry-dock. Kvalheim will be here for 5 or 6 days. He will soon be traveling to Haugesund where he is looking forward to meeting you. He is on his way to Kristania but will be taking some days to visit the towns on the way there. I am happy that he will be meeting with you.

God is working alongside us; His name be honored and praised. However, over time, it has become apparent that just having the form of doctrine is not enough. A person must be obedient to it. What matters is a God-fearing, holy life. “And where I go you know, and the way you know.” In the same way, we as His sheep need to hear His voice and obey it.

We’re leaving dry-dock tomorrow, and on Thursday we expect to return to Moldøen, and then sail back to Ålesund by mid-June.

I wasn’t sure about Br. Risnes’s address, so I’m returning the letters to you. It’s a blessing that all this work is being done, but I don’t think it’s such a good idea to immediately bring up the matter of how God condemned sin in Christ’s flesh. That would give an opening for those who want to create controversy. There is a great deal to be said about being freed from the law by the body of Christ, the fellowship of Christ’s sufferings, being made like Him in His death, etc., before we get to the crux of the matter and explain why this must be true.

What is needed most of all is godly fear, and if this is present, then we can start to delve into the mysteries of godliness. First, teach them to practice righteousness, to cleanse themselves from their former sins, and then wisdom will follow quite naturally. Please write about this to Sr. Dannell, so she can learn how to live and work in a healthy way.

It was a great joy to meet you in Haugesund. May God guide our paths rightly in all things, so that His name can be honored.

Warm greetings from your brother,

Johan

Adam before the fall was not subject to bondage through fear of death all his lifetime, so that he was needing to be released. Heb. 2:15. Neither did the angels live in bondage to fear. On the other hand, the seed of Abraham did live in bondage to fear of death and needed to be set free. Note that it says the seed of Abraham, a man who lived hundreds of years after the Fall of Man and who bore its consequences in his own body. It was the seed of this man that needed to be set free. Therefore Jesus Christ took upon Himself flesh from the seed of Abraham. Hallelujah. So, it wasn’t the seed of Adam before the fall, nor was it the seed of angels.
