Dear Br. Theodor Ellefsen,
God’s peace.

I returned from Horten today where we just had a blessed conference this past Saturday and Sunday. Besides you, Br. Aslaksen and Br. Birkeland were also missing. It was a blessed conference. Sr. Dannell stayed at Karl’s place for the whole week and also attended the conference. Johannes Andresen, along with his wife, son, and daughter, as well as Emanuel Pettersen, his wife, and others from Sarpsborg were also present. Thorleif Hansen and several sisters from Kristiania were there as well, along with three sisters from Mjøndalen, where things are progressing. Olafsen, Ellefsen, Aksel, and his wife came from Drøbak, as well as several newly converted sisters.

It was blessed to meet together after such a long time apart. On Saturday evening we spoke together about exercising ourselves in godliness. 1 Tim. 4. Sunday morning was a testimony meeting, mostly about Babylon, and that we should separate ourselves from all confusion (Babel) and fight against it. Read Jeremiah 50 and 51.

In the afternoon we had a conversation together about a woman’s place in the church. Aksel’s wife was zealous to get clarity regarding this matter. Karl Pedersen really fought to have women be as silent as possible, but we agreed in the end that a “church meeting” wasn’t the same thing as an “edification meeting.” In an edification meeting, women can pray and prophesy, as long as they don’t try to exercise authority over the men and behave like teachers. Everyone was satisfied with this conclusion—both the men and the women.

Sr. Marie Gundersen and her daughter, as well as Gurine Naadeland from Kristiansand, were present. Br. Berg was also there, and we and the friends from Kristiansand visited him the following day. On Monday evening all the friends came to our place and feasted on the left-overs from the conference. The brothers and sisters receive a deeper love for one another every time they are together.

I’ve enclosed some letters that will be of interest to you. There have been many battles in Ålesund, and as you see, they have sent the leader a formal letter. Please return these letters to me on the Valkyrjen in Moldøen until September 15. After that I’ll be in Ålesund until October 15.

I hope you are doing well up there in the north, that you are keeping fit and healthy, and that God is with you in your work for the furtherance of the truth. God has sent you to Northern Norway and has His own purpose in doing so.

Br. Thorleif Hansen is getting married to one of the sisters this coming Saturday. I spoke to him yesterday while I was in transit.

We would really like to hear from you. Br. Kvalheim labors and strives on behalf of other souls. Br. Nils Risnes has made inroads in Voss; several there have received his words of testimony. He is currently in Haugesund. Address: 141 Strand Street. In Mjøndalen there is a schoolteacher holding Bible studies, and he now wants to be baptized. Sr. Aasen is doing a work up there in all quietness. There is a baker in Kristiania who seems to be a very good man.

All the very best to you, dear brother. May God bless your work.

Warm greetings from your devoted brother,

Johan
