God’s peace.
Thank you for your good letter. You did the right thing by writing to Madsen immediately, and what you wrote was good and clear. I hope that by now you have received my previous letter regarding this matter. Yesterday we spoke about what Kleppe wrote in Missionæren a while back, about the second Adam. He writes emphatically that the second Adam had a flesh like the first Adam before the fall. In Heb. 5:7 we see that Jesus, in the days of His flesh, offered up prayers and supplications with vehement cries and tears to Him who could save Him from death. We do not hear any mention that Adam before the fall made such cries for salvation from death. He didn’t even know what death was. In Heb. 2:14 it is written that the children have partaken in flesh and blood; therefore He Himself likewise shared in the same, so that through death He could destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil. Here it mentions the children. Adam before the fall could at most be referred to as singular; and to say that the devil had any power in Adam before the fall makes no sense at all.
If you make any comparisons at all between Jesus in the flesh and Adam in the flesh before the fall, you arrive at such strange conclusions that you are bound to ask: how can such ignorance prevail in people who spend their whole lives studying religious questions?
He has reconciled us in the body of His flesh through death. Col. 1:22. If the flesh of Christ were like Adam’s before the fall, there would be no need for reconciliation, because Adam was reconciled. Nor could we be reconciled in the body of his flesh through death, because Adam before the fall did not know about death.
He is the one who came with the water and the blood—Jesus Christ. 1 John 5:6. Adam before the fall did not come with the water and the blood, which are the two witnesses that testify together with the Spirit. This is how we can constantly refute this horrible doctrine of another Jesus, one who is different from the One whom we have received.
We are doing well here in Ålesund. The opposers are making themselves more and more obvious through their stupidity. We are not planning to have an actual conference at Easter since there are no accommodations here—hundreds of people are suffering due to a housing shortage. However, we have written and invited Aksel. Kvalheim will also come here if Aksel does. It would be absolutely wonderful if you could come at Easter, but you have obligations to your children as well. May God guide your way in this matter.
We will be in Haugsholmen on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday, and then we will come here on Saturday, the day before Easter. Lord willing, I will have shore leave in Ålesund on Easter Sunday. Aksel was thinking of staying in Moldøen for the first two days of the holiday and spending the last two in Ålesund. If you are thinking of coming here, you should get in touch with Aksel and Kvalheim. As always, you are certainly welcome, and it would be beneficial to be together.
Greetings to Br. Lohne. I have been speaking with Br. Risnes every night while I’m on shore leave. He is making great progress, as are the others.
Warm greetings from your brother taking part in the work and the battle,
Johan
