You Must Position Yourself Correctly to See Correctly
If you watch a skilled craftsman at work, you will see that he looks at the object he is working on from one side and then from another side to get a complete picture. It is also the same in the spiritual realm. You must find the right position if you want to see clearly. It is written that Jesus “sat opposite the treasury and saw how the people put money into the treasury.” Mark 12:41.
If we want to get to the heart of a matter, we must position ourselves directly in front of it and look it right in the eye. More often than not, we will then discover that the widow’s two mites, which is equivalent to one cent, are more valuable to God than the extravagant gifts of those who are rich.
Throughout Jesus’ entire life we see how He made a habit of facing every situation and every person directly. Consequently, He was able to see and judge clearly. However, it also made Him the object of hatred and persecution. By doing this, He became so sharp that envy drove the scribes and Pharisees to deliver Him into the hands of Pilate to be crucified (Matt. 27:18), because they were not able to resist His Spirit or wisdom.
We see how Moses faced Pharaoh with confidence, and we know the end result.
Joshua faced the inhabitants of the land head-on, and God gave him victory.
If we want to get anything out of our life, we, too, must face every impure person and situation directly, because as iron sharpens iron, so a man is sharpened by standing before the countenance of his friend. Prov. 27:17.
