We Are Formed and Fashioned to His Praise
“... to the praise of his glorious grace which he freely bestowed on us in the Beloved.” Verse 6.
The people whom God forms shall not only proclaim His praise, they shall also live, move, and be lo His praise. Their glory will be an expression of how much more glorious He is who fashioned them. Note that it says we are to be to the praise of His glorious grace. No one can see God and live. Likewise, His glorious grace is like the brilliant and life-giving power of the Sun of righteousness, which is at work in us by His Son Jesus Christ. Our wretchedness is exposed at the same time His glorious grace is revealed. The difference between us and Him becomes so glaring that, in contrast to our wretchedness, His glorious grace becomes exceedingly glorious.
“But if through my falsehood God’s truthfulness abounds to his glory, why am I still being condemned as a sinner?” Romans 3:7. My falseness causes God’s truthfulness to radiate even more clearly, and my sin causes His grace to abound all the more—so much more that it disciplines me to live godly, soberly, and uprightly in this world—all my innate tendencies to the contrary. Can there be any doubt that as a result of all this we will be to the praise of His glorious grace?
