Conclusion
“Vanity of vanities, all is vanity.” Eccles. 1:2. “There was no profit under the sun.” Eccles. 2:11. This applies to everything earthly. There is nothing to gain and nothing to lose. Nothing of all that man seeks after, argues about, and fights for is even worth batting an eye at. Therefore, there is no reason to sin, no reason to be anxious or uneasy, and no reason to lack rest.
When nothing of this world—neither good nor evil—is able to throw you off balance any longer or sway you, then you have entered into the proper place of rest in God.
We who have believed do enter into this heavenly, eternal rest, this Sabbath rest which constantly increases. We have rest in our innermost being right in the midst of all this world’s turmoil. We can rest, both from our own works and from worrying about the works of others. Heb. 4:10.
All of God’s work with us is directed simply toward leading us into this rest in Himself. It is a great help for us that we understand this. “Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest.” Heb. 4:11.
