The Hidden Life

We can live an outward life in the church, but that is not the place where we become great or have value. We must live before the throne of grace in heaven. As servants of God we must press into the kingdom of heaven and hear words from His mouth, words that help us and nourish the church. Do not be bound by those who honor you in a human way. Sit down and take time to be alone. Pray, read in the Bible and the church literature, and press into God. Take time for your inner life. Without this inner worship of God, the delicate strings of godliness come out of tune. The whole church must come to this life. Live close to God in the midst of all the busyness. If you want to be a servant of the Lord, you must watch over your hidden life with Christ in God.

Jesus was the only one who could take up the battle against Edom. If you do battle there, you will get power. Hatred for sin is required. When we are in this hatred, our gatherings will be powerful. The friends must sense the blows of the cherubim’s shining sword against all honor-seeking, arrogance, pride and envy—a sword over all of it! These characteristics of the cherubim must be manifest in all of us—the creative Word of God that gives life. Everything of the flesh must go into death.

If you want to come to where the Father is, the way goes through the Son, and the Son has placed His servants in the church. Everything is supported by the Word of God. Those who are faithful remain standing, and God removes those who fail. We grow up easily and naturally. The day we stop living according to God’s Word, everything will collapse.
