The Valiant Life That Jesus Lived

“Then You spoke in a vision to Your holy one, and said: ‘I have given help to one who is mighty; I have exalted one chosen from the people.” Ps. 89:19. Jesus lived a valiant, heroic life in the days of His flesh when He crushed His enemies. What David did outwardly when he defeated the enemies of the land, Jesus did inwardly when He destroyed death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel. 2 Tim. 1:10.

Most people do not know Jesus—they don’t know who He really is. Paul had to ask: Who are You, Lord? He didn’t know this valiant Man, this mighty Person. Paul humbled himself, and then he learned wonderful things about the One who was manifested in the flesh. What took place in Jesus’ life was far more than just what happened on Calvary. Think of all the enemies He defeated when He opened the way to freedom from all the chains that had bound mankind for thousands of years. He cast out the prince of this world and brought a fantastic message of triumph for everyone who longs for victory over sin. Do you see how great He is and what He can do for you?

Our weakness is that we are so easily tempted—that we fall so easily. He is able to help us in our weakness. “For in that He Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted.” Heb. 2:18. If you have this hope in your heart, do not be led away from the confession of your hope! Faith will make what you hope for a reality, if you hold fast to your confession—a confession that even includes faith for partaking of divine nature. What are you hoping for? Make sure that you never become unwilling in your spirit! He understands your difficult nature, and He is compassionate. He also has help for you—you can stop falling completely! “Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He ever lives to make intercession for them.” Heb. 7:25. This mighty Man is with you and strengthens you. You can overcome all of your weaknesses. Just think about what a gospel this is! Read Psalm 89:20-28 and Hebrews 4:14-18.

Come with boldness to the throne of grace. There you will receive help to live a holy, blameless life so that you can be presented without spot or wrinkle before Him in peace. In a genuinely God-fearing heart, this will succeed. Jesus died for our sake, but He was saved from the death that came because of sin. He lived in His impoverished circumstances as the son of a carpenter. You cannot admire the things that are great in this world and at the same time receive revelation over Jesus’ humiliation. He received a Name that is above every name because He humbled Himself. Come to the throne of grace when you sense your weakness, your tendencies and your nature. You who long to live the same life He lived, seek help from this mighty Man who can give you help. Walk in His presence—He can truly free us from all weaknesses. He will make the things you hope for a reality—provided you hold fast to your confession. One day we will stand together with Him on the Zion of God—then we will be certain that it has succeeded. Satan has never been able to ruin the work for those who humble themselves.

Those for whom this life is revealed come into a life of tremendous abundance where the Sun of righteousness arises with healing in its wings. “My own righteousness” is not a sun, but the “righteousness of God through faith” frees us from all our demands and brings this heavenly sunrise. May this life of abundance radiate from every single one of us in an ever-in-creasing power and fullness!
