The Man Is a Close Relative of Ours; He is One of Our Redeemers
Even though Ruth was a poor Gentile woman, Naomi said that Boaz was a close relative of theirs. Ruth had said, “Your people shall be my people, and your God shall be my God.” She was grafted into the true olive branch and was now a partaker of the olive tree’s root and fatness. It could be said about her that she had left houses, brothers, sisters, father, mother, children, and fields for His name’s sake. Yet she received it again many times over in this world, and inherited eternal life. Matt. 19:29. By making this choice, she received Boaz as a close relative and as a redeemer. Everyone who leaves everything for the sake of the name of Jesus receives Him as a close relative and a Redeemer. It is written about Him: “Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy Him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.” Heb. 2:14-15. Here we read about Jesus as a close relative and a Redeemer. He had to become like His brethren in all things, so that He could be a compassionate and faithful High Priest before God to atone for the sins of the people. He has redeemed us from sin and the power of Satan and has set us free and translated us into the kingdom of His beloved Son. In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace, so that we should be to the praise of His glory. Eph. 1:7, 12.
