All that You Say to Me I Will Do
A person with such an open and upright mind as Ruth is destined for something great. Such deep humility has to find grace before God’s face. We have many people in our days who immediately want to do God’s will (or so they claim), but they do not want to submit to or listen to any one person. However, it is an established fact that people with such a proud attitude never hear God speaking to them, because He resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.
Jesus says, “As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” John 20:21. A person who is upright in his innermost heart will soon be able to tell the difference between someone whom God has sent and those who run off without having been sent.
Ruth realized that Naomi’s guidance was God’s will. She witnessed again and again how well it went and the peace she experienced by doing what Naomi said. Therefore she could also say like a trusting child, “All that you say to me I will do.” Did she lose anything by it? On the contrary, she gained greater worthiness in Naomi’s eyes, in Boaz’s eyes, and also in God’s eyes.
