Boaz Also Bought the Moabitess, Ruth

Verse 10

“Moreover, Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of Mahlon, I have acquired as my wife, to raise up the name of the dead on his inheritance, that the name of the dead may not be cut off from among his brethren and from the gate of his place. You are witnesses this day.”

Boaz was a mighty man before, but now he became mightier than he had ever been. He received a very God-fearing wife and a mother-in-law who was particularly blessed with God’s wisdom. He received Mahlon’s field so he could raise up a son for the name of the dead, so he could sit among his brethren in the gate of this place.

Those servants of the Lord who seek to win souls, and who despise earthly goods, will at the very last inherit all things together with Him. They will leave a huge inheritance behind.

“Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one’s youth. Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them; they shall not be ashamed, but shall speak with their enemies in the gate.” Ps. 127:4-5.
