1. The part of our human spirit that has been made alive. Jas. 4:5; Heb. 4:12; 1 Cor. 15:45. 2. No. For the body of the sins of the flesh is the body of the old man. When the body has been put off, the man ceases to exist, for man consists of body, soul, and spirit. 3. It consisted of indwelling, unconscious sin that was the cause of the Deeds of the body. Rom. 7:15, first line. Rom. 7:17; Rom. 8:13. This was left intact despite the old man having been put off, for the old man denotes only my conscious “I” agreeing with my mind in conscious sin. 4. The old man. Eph. 4:22. 5. The new man. Eph. 4:24. 6. It is the man whose spirit consists of that part of our human spirit that has still not been made alive, and whose body (in Romans 6:6) is called the body of sin. It is our not-made-alive, unenlightened, unconscious, uncontrollable man. 7. Because “I” have committed them. 8. Because “I” have not committed them. Rom. 7:17. 9. The body of the sins of the flesh. 10. The body of sin. 11. The body of death—dead (Rom. 810), keeping it in subjection (1 Cor. 9:27) with indwelling flesh and with its passions and desires crucified (Gal. 5:24)—driven by the Spirit of God. 12. A man in whom is found the new man. 13. A man who in spite of his new man nevertheless has indwelling, unconscious sin that, not controlled by the new man, produces works of the body that must be put to death by the Spirit. 14. The old man that is totally corrupt, personified ungodliness; the Antichrist. 2 Thess. 2:3. 15. Our man that is not made alive, that is unenlightened; our unconscious or uncontrollable man. 16. These are two widely different names for one and the same thing. 17. No! For the old man denotes that our entire conscious mind is in the flesh, and the entire mind cannot be in two places simultaneously. 18. Yes, whenever a person is not awake, does not pray, and is unfaithful; for it is not automatically, demonstrably put off, but it takes place by faith. When faith or faithfulness fails, everything fails. 19. The law of the Spirit, the law of God. 20. The law of sin and death. 21. The law of the Spirit with the new man and the law of sin in the members with the man that is not made alive. The law of the Spirit with the mind and the law of sin in the members with the flesh. Rom. 7:25. 22. The body of the sins of the flesh. Col. 2:11. 23. The old man. Col. 3:9. 24. The new man and the old man, for the new man consciously performs that which is good and the old man consciously performs what is evil, whereas the deeds of the body are unconscious. 25. My unenlightened man, the “wretched man that I am,” and “You man of God.” 26. The works of God and the deeds of the body. 27. Two kinds: God’s works, and the deeds of the body. 28. The laws of the Spirit and the law of sin in the members. 29. Two kinds. The new man and my unenlightened man. 30. The old man. 31. The old man is put off. 32. The old man is put on. 33.
