“But if Anyone Draws Back, My Soul Has No Pleasure in Him.”
Drawing back is a very common and often a very fateful sin. Drawing back is the opposite of presenting yourself, admitting something, and taking on something. Drawing back is the equivalent of failing and denying, of leaving difficulties, burdens, toil, sufferings, and reproach to others while you spare yourself.
If Christ had drawn back, salvation would not exist for any of us. The person who draws back harms himself, or ruins himself. God does not care about a person who draws back, but He does take pleasure in someone who believes and presents his body as a sacrifice in the ministry of obedience. It is therefore vital never to draw back from anything, whether it is from praying or testifying, whether it is from one meeting or another, whether it is from one ministry or another, whether it is from one sacrifice or another.
The greater the sacrifices are, the more important it is to make sure that you do not draw back. It is vital not to be carried along by the currently increasing position of withdrawing from giving birth to and rearing children.
When it concerns mockery and scorn and reproach, it is important to be quick to acknowledge that you are “one of them.” Their scorn that was directed at the Father fell on Jesus precisely because He did not draw back. Rom. 15:3.
