The Bride Has a Lovely Mouth and a Sweet Voice
She has a longing and a noble desire to be like this from the beginning, but she is far from being like this at present.
However, Christ has wooed her because of her noble desire. He transforms her, saves her, and molds her so that she gradually receives a sweet voice and a lovely (in French, “charming”) mouth.
This is an amazing masterpiece—transforming a sinful person to such a degree! For there is no limit to how nasty the mouth can be: hard, bitter, quick-tempered, mocking, sarcastic, cranky and miserable, cross, unreasonable, demanding, rude, unthankful, and many other things!
“Your mouth is lovely [charming].” Ch. 4:3. “Your lips, O My spouse, drip as the honeycomb . . . .” “Your lips, my beloved, distill honey . . . .” (French translation). V. 11. “Let me hear your voice; for your voice is sweet,” says the Bridegroom to His espoused. Ch. 2:14.
What a future is awaiting all such bridal souls! No wonder Christ is enamored of such brothers and sisters whom He can mold like this, who adorn themselves with a meek and quiet spirit, whose words are lovely, mild, sweet, tender, compassionate, understanding, without demands, joyful, blessed, full of thankfulness, contentment, and soothing balm and peacefulness, whose lips even drip with honey!
It is easy to understand that the Bridegroom desires to kiss such a mouth.
And it is also not so difficult to understand that our mouth becomes lovelier and lovelier as our love for the Bridegroom increases!
