Exhortations

If we are to make progress so we can grow up to maturity in order to help people, then the most important exhortation for us is: “Therefore, laying aside all malice, all guile, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking, as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby.” 1 Pet. 2:1-2.

The whole chapter is nothing but glorious exhortations, and if we follow them we will enter into a glorious life together with all the others who are apprehended of these exhortations. Then we can say that we are “a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises [virtues] of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.” 1 Pet. 2:9-10.

When we read this chapter, we cannot desire any greater glory than the glory we obtain through obedience to these exhortations.
