“From Your Brethren”

“For Moses truly said, ‘The Lord your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your brethren.’” Acts 3:22.

“And He stretched out His hand toward His disciples and said, ‘Here are My mother and My brothers! For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister, and mother.’” Matt. 12:49-50.

“For both He who sanctifies [Christ] and those who are being sanctified [we] are all of one [the Father], for which reason He is not ashamed to call them brethren, saying, ‘I will declare Your name to My brethren; in the midst of the congregation I will sing praise to You.’” Heb. 2:11-12.

“Therefore in all things He had to be made like His brethren . . . .” Heb. 2:17. “For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.” Rom. 8:29.

People are usually so superficial that they attach little significance to these words, regarding them merely as fanciful expressions or beautiful titles, utterly devoid of any true meaning. However, even if we are superficial, that is not the case with God or with His Word!

When He says that we are His brethren, He means brothers in truth. If we truly are born again, we are of the same Spirit and have the same Father. And when Jesus was born of the Virgin Mary, He partook of the same flesh as ours. The same Spirit, the same flesh—real brothers!
