“A Lamb Without Blemish and Without Spot”
“Knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from you fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.” 1 Pet. 1:18-19.
Christ lived His whole life without blemish or spot. We, too, are plainly called to live a blameless life in this present world and to be presented before the face of God without spot. Col. 1:22; Jude 24; Rev. 14:5; 2 Pet. 3:14.
By no means does this imply that we don’t have sin in the flesh. 1 John 1:8. On the contrary, it means that, in spite of having sin in the flesh, we keep His commandments, so that we don’t commit sin, as the epistles of John tell us so clearly and plainly many times.
As for Christ, He was also presented without spot in the sense that there was no more sin in His flesh; all sin was condemned! It was for this reason that the veil in the temple was rent, the rocks were split, and the graves were opened! All glory to His holy name!
