“A Shoot From the Stem of Jesse”

“There shall come forth a shoot from the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots.” Isa. 11:1.

This is how Isaiah prophesied concerning Christ manifested in the flesh, manifested in the same kind of flesh that Jesse had. He saw mankind as a dry, unfruitful tree that was hewn down. From this stem and its roots a Branch was to come forth: Christ manifested in the flesh. He would bear fruit and be victorious, despite having the same flesh. “For the Gentiles shall seek Him.” Isa. 11:10.
