Dear brother Aksel,
God’s grace and peace.

Thank you for the good letter you sent to me in Bergen.

It’s always heartwarming to get a letter when on board. Now they are playing a mandolin and guitar and singing here in the mess, and so, as you can understand, my thoughts are not as fully focused as I might wish.

In Bergen I visited the T. family. They had invited some people over for an informal conversation meeting. Old Br. T. realized that something was lacking, which was why he asked me to speak. So we prayed, and after the prayer, God gave me grace to speak. Br. T., together with his wife and their son and daughter, and a brother named B. and his wife, participated in the conversation with great enthusiasm and rejoiced exceedingly.

Old Br. T. pounded the table out of joy and zeal, and the women joined in with all their hearts. It was a blessed time.

We spoke together about the light, about the gifts of the Spirit, about being conformed to the image of Christ, about the judgment over God’s house, etc., as well as the fellowship of Christ’s sufferings. God blessed us so richly that we could have easily continued far into the night. Br. T. had to be helped out of his own thoughts and brought into alignment with the Spirit. Only then did things go well, and he was also content. His son G. has more depth than most young men.

God is good. He has now sent me from town to town to testify about obedience to the Holy Spirit; and that is sorely needed.

Br. Theodor Ellefsen is now in Grimstad with his in-laws for about two weeks.

I thought you’d be interested in hearing a little from Bergen, so I’m sending you these few words.

Next Thursday we will—God willing—be in Horten, with some short interruptions, until August 15.

We are now anchored in Lervik, which lies about 120 km south of Bergen. Tomorrow we will sail into Hardanger Fjord. Greetings to everyone at home.

Your brother,

Johan
