Thank you for our time together in Mjøndalen and for your letter. It was awful to hear about P., but God is able to save to the uttermost. I.D. must know more about this matter but keeps it to herself. Since P. has such a strong hold on her, there must be things they share together that have not yet come to light.
Besides, it’s not a good idea to get involved in such matters. In any case, a thorough repentance is required. I.D. has displayed an extreme inability to stand up for herself, and it is very likely that she is also partly to blame for the unfortunate situation they find themselves in.
We learn from this that we should not be so quick to confide in a person, but rather be good and faithful stewards of the mysteries of Christ. We must not allow carnal refinement to be a bridge over which Satan can stroll right into the chambers of our heart.
Worldly wisdom on the cross,
Worldly refinement on the cross,
Ungodliness of every kind on the cross.
“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.” “Eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality . . . .” Rom. 2:7.
Yesterday we had another good conversation meeting at Br. Ellefsen’s place. I believe that the most correct course for you is not to get involved, as that would require great humility from their side.
The cross will not allow us any sort of union with anyone who is outside of Christ, so the only hope we have of being united with them is to preach the gospel to them.
On the way home yesterday, Br. Aslaksen said that he had often reprimanded himself for not having spoken more to people about God than he had; but now he understood that even Christ was only sent to those who were perishing—only to those who were in need of healing—and the same is also true of us.
Just these few words for now. It was blessed to be in Mjøndalen. Warm greetings from all of us here. Just come whenever you like or when you have something special on your heart. We’ll talk about it together, and God will make things clear for us.
Your devoted brother in Christ,
JohanMany greetings to Sr. I.D.
