Thank you for your letter which I received. It has been a long time since I last wrote. God has been doing great things. I don’t know if Aksel would like me doing this, but I just have to quickly tell how things have been going with him and with us.
Aksel arrived from Kristiania and stayed with us for about eight days. God used him to greatly bless and strengthen the brothers and sisters in their faith. He received the gift of tongues, and he praised God in tongues. We had several regular meetings, as well as prayer meetings, and the power was so strongly present that my heart is filled with joy at the mere thought of it.
At one of these meetings God gave me the gift of prophecy. When God’s Spirit begins to work, my body starts feeling really warm; then the Spirit starts forming words in my consciousness. While the Spirit is over me, I’m compelled to proclaim the words that the Lord is giving me at the top of my voice. This gift is particularly active when only believers are present, because prophecy is a sign for those who believe. The gift of tongues, on the other hand, is more active when unbelief is present.
From here Aksel traveled to Larvik and afterwards visited Haanes in Skien. In Larvik he was with Antony, the editor of Missionæren. Aksel writes that at 2 o’clock in the morning, Antony was baptized in the Spirit to such an extent that his bed began to shake, and he was filled with joy. On the second evening, a girl at Antony’s meeting was baptized in the Spirit. Her jaw was trembling so Aksel thinks she received the gift of tongues. Three or four people sought God, and later there was a meeting in one of their homes. An old lady had a vision: She saw the Savior standing among them with outstretched arms and clothed in white robes—pure and radiant. No one else saw Him. Aksel sent a card about this from Skien. Haanes is now traveling back to Larvik with him, where he will be staying Saturday and Sunday (16th and 17th). On Monday he is intending to travel to Arendal. The mission house in Larvik is available to him; it can hold 1,500 people.
Aksel will soon be arriving in Kristiansand, filled with the Holy Spirit and power. May God bless his time among you. Believe God, and He will do great things. Continue in prayer and supplication.
I’m writing this letter in order to prepare you to receive Aksel with simplicity of heart, because he isn’t coming with something of himself, but with the gospel and teachings of Christ.
Sincere greetings to everyone who has an open heart for the truth. Just these few lines to encourage you in the Lord.
Your brother battling together with you in Christ,
Johan
