Valkyrjen, Ålesund, August 18, 1914
Dear Br. Ellefsen,

Thank you very much for your good card and for the conversation in Haugesund. It was a blessed hour. Our citizenship is in heaven; that is why we can rejoice with other citizens of the same kingdom. I received a letter from Br. Aslaksen. His address is: Bergen’s radio tower. He asked me to send the letter to Aksel; but I am sending it to you now first, and then you can forward it on to Aksel in Kristiansand.

We are anchored in Ålesund, and we sail out every morning for firing practice. Let’s hope this comes to an end so that we can meet together again in Horten this fall. God is with us, and He hides us in His pavilion on the day of trouble. And after the battle is over, we will be together forever, at home with the Lord. Br. Birkeland wrote that Tobiassen has fallen away. I have written to Birkeland and asked what he meant by “fallen away”—whether it was sin, or doubt and darkness. Do you have his address? He’s on duty in Horten. Thorleif Hansen wrote and asked me for his address. I wish you all the best, dear brother; may God gather us once again in His peace.

Warm greetings,

Johan
