God’s peace.
Thanks for your good letter. The other day I sent a letter to Aksel, which I asked him to send on to you. It was about a brother by the name of Kvalheim, who is beginning to rejoice in the light. Tonight we were supposed to have a Bible study, but due to an uncommonly high wind blowing here where we are anchored, we have not been granted shore leave. Br. Kvalheim had studied the Adventist doctrine, and he is now cleansing out this old leaven. Time and again, he gets flashbacks to the Adventist teachings, but he is cleansing out more and more every day. He rejoices in the truth, and we rejoice with him. Kvalheim travels around selling soft drink syrup and operates his own beverage factory. Br. Oldeide asked me to visit him. He is, by all appearances, a very cautious and well-mannered young man. He is 25 years old. Around the new year, he will go on a business trip, starting in Trondheim and then heading south. He will visit Kristiania, Hønefoss, Drøbak, and Horten. May God strengthen him in grace and equip him for the task.
In the world you will have tribulations. We will experience some of this, but thanks be to God, we can rejoice in tribulations together with Paul, because in the end they will work for us an eternal weight of glory. God has strengthened me and given me grace when proclaiming His word to Br. Kvalheim, so that he has been repeatedly convinced and has rejoiced like a little child.
After I spoke with Br. Moe in Bergen, I have thought about him often. I can assure you that he has grown, and his love in the Spirit continues to bring me joy. He said that being alone has been a source of strength for him; I agree with this. What he has previously heard comes back to him, and then God’s Spirit works with him in quietness.
Br. Kvalheim says there are many along the coast waiting to hear a more complete gospel, and two brothers in Ålesund said the same thing. Now we have contacts in Haugesund, Moldøen, and Trondheim. I have told all these brothers about the brothers in Eastern Norway, and they already love them.
The day before yesterday, Br. Kvalheim suffered a relapse into Adventist thinking, and we had another heated disagreement. However, when I spoke to him today, he was happy again and said that he was so regretful and felt so bad last night that he had to go to bed at an unusually early hour. But today he was in good spirits and happy again.
Pray for him and for the brothers in Haugesund, as well as for Johan Olsen in Trondheim. Also pray for me, that God would open doors for the word here in Western Norway where we are now.
Greet the friends in Hønefoss, your mother, and Judith.
Write to Skjulte Skatter.
Warm greetings,
JohanPauline has been mailing out the paper while Karl and I have been away. But now Karl is home again.
