Dear brother Aksel,
God’s peace.

We just left Ålesund and are now on our way to Haugesund, where we will be for several days. Later we will sail to Bergen where we will probably stay four to six weeks to install a new anchor winch. The Lord has done amazing things in Ålesund. They closed the doors, but other friends opened them, and everything proceeded as usual. I went ashore this afternoon and heard that they have now declared the doors open again, even though they have been open the entire time.

Recently, our opposers have been revealed for who they really are through their many unreliable statements and their great unrest, while the friends have been full of joy. They say they have never experienced a time like this before. The opposers claim that I have been a wolf in the sheepfold, but they haven’t even come to the meetings. At one meeting, I asked what kind of shepherds they had in this congregation, since they ran away when the wolf came. They got the point.

I have written to you before about going back to the places where we have been in order to strengthen the friends in faith. This will be essential. Consider this, and see whether you can tear yourself away.

I went ashore the evening before last, and the friends gave me a wrapped gift as a memento from Ålesund. I opened it back on the ship and found a very nice silver spoon, on which they had engraved: “A memento from Ålesund 1915,” and on the other side the letter “S.” In order not to disregard their goodness, I felt obliged to accept the spoon, and I intend to keep it as a memento of these dear friends and the days of battle in Ålesund, 1915. May God bless them.

The things that are now taking place were prophesied long ago, but nobody believed they would be fulfilled in this way. The friends here have also received revelations, dreams, and words from the Lord in many different ways, which has greatly strengthened their faith. An opposer picked a “mannakorn”[5] which read: “Awake, you who sleep, arise from the dead . . . .” A sister picked one for me that said: “Cry aloud, spare not.” One evening, a brother sat in deep contemplation over the things which had happened and felt somewhat disheartened. He picked a “mannakorn” and got Jer. 51:10-12. Both he and the others in the house began to rejoice. The opposers have actually been here the whole time, but the friends have never had as much power over them as they do now, which is the reason for their rejoicing. I later used these verses as the text for the meeting. Read verse 30 in the same chapter. This verse fits the fierce opposition in Ålesund very well. The Lord is fighting for us, and everything is going according to His will in this matter.

Warm greetings.

Your brother,

Johan
