Thank you for your good letter which I received today. I was on shore yesterday, and I didn’t realize that the Viking had been anchored in Ålesund for some time.

Br. Gorsem has been striving a lot, but he appears to be drawing the right conclusion from his past experiences, which for him, as for us, is that the law is our schoolmaster to bring us to Christ.

Sr. Dannell was in Moldøen while Br. Kvalheim was away, but she had a blessed time with the ones there. There is now an entire congregation in Moldøen who long to hear something, and some of them have started to hear it.

Here in Ålesund, the congregation has been divided. The opposers locked me out of the meeting hall, but the leader, Gunda Willersrud, opened the doors again and promised that if the truth was kicked out, she would also leave. Now several of them have clear light, and most of them are at the meetings. Only a few opposers have stopped coming altogether. We have held a lot of meetings, and there have been abundant opportunities to proclaim the word of God. They testify readily that they want to follow Jesus, even in His sufferings, and they also say that they’ve never felt so happy and that light is dawning for them. The leader, Gunda Willersrud, is an eloquent speaker, and she is constantly getting light. She uses the sword without mercy on fleshly tendencies. They’ve been praying for light for a long time, she said, and there have been prophecies that the Lord would send light and that many would be offended by it. This prophecy has now been fulfilled before their eyes, and now they are saying that it is from the devil.

The friends who understand the way always have the word, and all the meetings are held in this Spirit. Two men got up and spoke against it, but God gave me words to refute everything they spoke against, so it became obvious to everyone listening that their words were empty. The assistant leader had prophesied much, and when I later spoke with him about it, he stopped coming and ended up in Kristi Menighet with Devold, even though he had been the treasurer of the group. A brother from another church said to Gunda Willersrud: “Just proclaim the truth, and if you are kicked out because of that, then my house is open to you.” She testified about this in a public meeting. Personally, I hardly sense any battle at all, but the others say that they are fighting as they never have before. They are experiencing a constant conflict. And they say it won’t make any difference if that “Smith fellow” leaves because his spirit will still be here, causing strife and confusion. Praise God for His great grace. He sent His Son for the fall and rising of many in Israel, so that the first would be last, and the last would be first.
