Faithfulness in the Light
No light can be faithfully applied unless it is coupled with grace (love and compassion). God has given us light so that we can see and judge clearly in various situations and so that we can use this light to deal with each circumstance in the right way. God pays close attention to the actions we take in this light. This is the standard He uses to judge our faithfulness; whether we always—without exception—seek what is best for our neighbor.
If a person forges ahead in the light without having a care for others, the purpose of the light is not fulfilled. God does not give us light just for the sake of having light, but rather to accomplish something in the light. There were some who rejoiced in the light from John. It is a joy when light dawns, but the works that await us within the enlightened area, and how we carry them out, will show how faithful we have been. Here we enter into a practical work where we no longer rejoice in the light on its own, unless it contributes to us being able to carry out our work in a far better way. The light is to be our co-worker. We are children of the day; let us work while it is called “Today.”
