Dear Br. Aslaksen,
God’s grace and peace in Christ.

I am enclosing quite a few letters and postcards. You will see that Aksel would like to have you come to Kristiansand. If you do travel there, Skjulte Skatter will pay for your trip. I will send the money right away, if you’d like; or, if you can pay for the trip to Kristiansand up front and then write and let me know how much it cost, I will send the money to you there. I’ve written to Aksel in Fredericia saying that I believe it would be a great blessing if you made this trip. According to Aksel, Grøntoft will provide you with food and lodging while you are there. If you go to Father’s place first, he can give you directions to Grøntoft’s place.

If Father and Mother could be won, that would be quite an accomplishment. Father is more likely to be won over by strangers than by his own family. But you will have to be quite firm with him—preferably keep a little distance, but not too much. He is aware that it’s not right to speak harshly to an older man, so you will win him by using wisdom in your interactions, since he has considerable knowledge of the Scriptures.

Br. Gill certainly needs more support and guidance. In this case, you shouldn’t even ask about or attend any of their meetings—with those old people—but immediately and boldly start holding your own house meetings and gather whomever you can. God will be with you. Just make sure that you pay the closest attention to your conduct, since you will be criticized from every side. Ideally, women should be avoided as much as possible, so no suspicions or anything evil is allowed to spring up. To be sure, to the pure all things are pure, but for the impure nothing is pure, which is why we must consider the others in order to win as many as possible.

Write as soon as you decide what you are going to do. You know best where things stand in Hønefoss, but Aksel would take a trip up there now and then if you happen to be absent for a couple of months. There is much work to be done all over. Stavanger and Bergen are waiting in the wings. I was in Bergen once and got the impression that there were many who were eager to hear. They crowded around me and listened with rapt attention.

If you can win Father, he would be very useful, but he must be helped to take up his cross.

Loving greetings to you all.

Yours,

Johan
