Peace in Christ.
Thank you for your good letter today. Perhaps what was written in Skjulte Skatter was somewhat clumsily written. I probably should have written the following instead: “Whose purpose and goal is the destruction of sin in the body.” Of course, that’s what I meant, as the words after the comma also indicate.
Br. Berg wrote from Porsgrund, inquiring about Aksel. Since he was not able to come, he asked me to come over this Sunday. I have now promised to go there tomorrow. However, in the meantime, Aksel wrote that he will come here tomorrow, so now I don’t know whether he will accompany me to Porsgrund. I received a letter from Br. Birkeland. I sent the letter to Aksel and asked him to forward it to you. Your letter brought me joy; but the laborers are few, that’s true. Purity is required in order to serve in the church; there is no question about that. A good testimony is also required among those who are outside.
The letter from Hønefoss was good—it is quite clear from the letter who has instructed her. With regard to Jesus destroying the body of sin in His flesh, we can consider Abraham. A separation took place in his house. Ishmael was separated from Isaac, who had the promise. There was no separation in Isaac, since he was a type of Christ, who overcame sin in His body. But from Isaac’s loins came an Esau and a Jacob. Esau is our flesh. Think about Isaac’s blessings over his two sons. The firstfruit is Christ (Isaac), followed by us (Esau and Jacob).
Warm greetings,
JohanGreet Br. Pettersen and his wife.
