This Is Revelation
Paul was circumcised on the eighth day. But when God’s light exposed his works as a persecutor of the church of God, the judgment condemned him, so his circumcision became as uncircumcision. He sank down to the level of the Gentiles in his own eyes, which is where he had already been in God’s eyes. From then on he no longer boasted of his circumcision. He was of the seed of Israel, from the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew among Hebrews. He was a Pharisee and, according to the law, blameless. When struck by God’s light on the road to Damascus, he became blind and groped about for someone who could lead him by the hand. He sensed then that all these carnal credentials did not suffice. He became just as wretched in his own eyes as the Gentiles, whom he had despised before.
God gave Paul many and great revelations, but He also showed him what he would have to suffer for His name’s sake. You mustn’t think that the spirit of revelation in the knowledge of God is something the flesh will appreciate, or that it will bring you a lot of honor from other people.
