Insight

“When you read this you can perceive my insight into the mystery of Christ.” Verse 4.

Insight precedes knowledge, just as knowledge precedes wisdom. Insight makes use of what knowledge and wisdom contain and then goes on to search deeper. Insight is the first to bid revelation welcome. Revelation duly adds its store to the knowledge of God that was previously obtained by revelation. Insight goes on working, probing ever deeper in its quest for the knowledge of God.

What for the Apostle was manifest knowledge of God, the Ephesians could perceive by insight when they were exhorted to turn their eyes in that direction. That’s why he called what they beheld in the Spirit, “my insight” into the mysteries of Christ.
