“My soul . . . why are you disquieted within me?”

“My soul . . . why are you disquieted within me?” Ps. 43:5. If you are not abiding in God, if you are not in Christ Jesus, then you have every good reason to be disquieted, to long and thirst for Him. But if you are in Him, then why are you disquieted? Do you want to go out of Him again?

Something rises up within you! But what can rise up within you? Nothing but the mire and dirt that still remains in you—your self-will, which is the will of the flesh. If you are restless, what makes you so? Nothing but what has just been mentioned—self-will.

Oh, how good it is to have rest within, in our innermost being! How wise, no matter what the circumstances, to go—by a living faith—the way of death, the way of the cross, and enter into a constantly increasing rest in God!

In Hebrews it is written, “We” enter in. Do you, dear friend?
