“For the word of God is living and powerful

“For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit . . . .” Heb. 4:12.

In this amazing chapter about rest we finally get a more thorough explanation of, and insight into what it costs and the process whereby we, who are such restless beings according to the flesh (one worse than the next), truly enter into perfect rest in God in the midst of this unrighteous, evil, and quarrelsome world!!!

The Word with which we are to melt together by faith—verse by verse—divides soul and spirit; in other words, it slays us according to the flesh. We become quiet and calm, utterly and completely calm within—no murmuring or complaining, no protests or excuses, no anger, envy, jealousy, hatred, worry, lust, greed, vain hopes or ambitions, and therefore no disappointments, etc. We who have this living faith enter into more and more rest in God.
