The Lord Repay Your Work and Reward You Fully
The least renunciation for Jesus’ sake is richly rewarded. You give up that which is earthly and corruptible and receive that which is heavenly and eternal in return. We give up our sin, which leads to death, and receive righteousness and life. Instead of misfortune and sorrow, we receive joy and peace. What a blessed exchange! The Lord rewards “your work.” Blessed is the one who is filled with such works about which it must be said: “Blessed are your works. May you be fully rewarded.” It will be good to have done works that are like gold, silver, and precious stones on the Day when the reward will be distributed. Such works will endure God’s fire on that Day. If it is bondage to do God’s work, then it must be liberty to be lazy; yet the lazy ones will be cast out, because besides being lazy they also draw others with them into the same mire. On the other hand, God has always had someone, at all times, about whom it can be said: “Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.” Matt. 25:21.
