You Have Comforted Me, and Have Spoken Kindly to Your Maidservant

The Book of Ruth

You Have Comforted Me, and Have Spoken Kindly to Your Maidservant

Verse 13

God’s exceedingly great grace overwhelms the heart, and we must exclaim: You have comforted me! Love interprets its own words for a yearning heart. We have confidence in someone who comforts us, and confidence produces boldness. God’s love gives rise to a longing for more of His divine Being. With grace comes boldness to pray for more grace. Ruth was always careful to stay in her place, for she said, “Though I am not like one of your maidservants.” It is only from this place that we can receive grace.
