He Went to Lie Down at the End of the Heap of Grain
Then Boaz went to lie down and he covered himself at the end of the heap of grain. It was not by chance that he laid down in that place, but he found precisely the right place, led by the Spirit. The mind of the Spirit is peace and joy; therefore a spiritual person will immediately find the right place. However, the Spirit works not just through one person. Naomi was also led by the Sprit of God to give Ruth the right advice and the right suggestion, for she had said to Ruth, “Notice the place where he lies.” We would also do well to notice where Boaz was lying down.
When God leads a soul to us, a soul who is suited for the inner ways in Christ, then we should begin at the end of the heap of grain—under the cover of the Spirit. The heap of grain is before us, and there is sufficient food in the Lord’s house. The fullness of the Godhead dwells bodily in Him. We can eat of His flesh and drink of His blood as much as we desire, but we must always begin at the end of the heap of grain—with the elementary principles of Christ. Only thieves and robbers attempt to begin in the middle of the heap of grain. However, we can press more deeply into the heap of grain after we have started at the end. Never again do we need to migrate to the land of Moab because of hunger, for we have the entire heap before us. Neither do we need to flee from Israel’s judges, for He at whose feet and under whose cover we lie will judge the living and the dead. He tells us everything we have to do. He is our leader in this life. He prepares us for the life to come and gives us an eternal glory with Himself in the heavenly places.
