Called to Suffer Wrongfully

1 Peter 2:19-21

Yes, this is our calling!!! It is written: “To this you were called . . . .” Why did Jesus come into the world? He came for the express purpose of suffering unjustly. 1 Pet. 3:18. We are called to follow His steps. These are His steps: Do what is right and good in everything, and then suffer all kinds of injustice, accepting it with patience, endurance, forbearance, understanding, thankfulness, and joy.

Just as this was Jesus’ task, so it is our task. This is our life’s purpose. To this end we eat and work and rest. We want to live so that this can succeed. This is our hope.

We live in order to die as much as possible to ourselves, in order to lose our life. Therefore, the more we lose, the more that is taken from us, the more we suffer unjustly—the happier we become, the better it goes, the closer we are to the goal: to be conformed to His death; to have walked fully in His steps; to be His worthy bride.

Romans 8:36 and 37 are very significant: “‘For Your sake we are killed all day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.’ Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.”

Therefore this is the divine and proper perspective on life! Now it is critical that every one of us has this understanding of the matter embedded in heart and mind. Then everything will go so much better, to God’s glory and praise!

Imagine! This is why I am living! We have good reason to hope that it will succeed in every respect, because the world is full of people who are more than willing to give us a helping hand with killing our self-will and our rights and with consuming everything that is ours.

However, in all these things we are more than conquerors! Indeed, the difficulty of overcoming is considerably reduced when we see that all these things are for our eternal gain and happiness.
