“The Man Christ Jesus”

“For there is one God, and there is one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus.” 1 Tim. 2:5.

The spirit of the times changes! In the days of His flesh, religious people knew Him as a man, but they condemned Him to death because He said He was the Son of God. In our day He is hailed as the Son of God, but He is unknown as the man Christ Jesus! Those who dare to praise Him both as God’s Son and as the man Christ Jesus, as the root and the offspring of David—which He in truth both was and is (Rev. 22:16)—are also being condemned. And this is certainly fitting: as with the Master, so with His disciples!

Devout brothers, victorious Christians, full of the Holy Spirit, are rejected by many religious leaders today because they dare to believe the word of Scripture that sin was condemned in Christ’s flesh, the word of Scripture that He was tempted just like we are, the word of Scripture that He was made like us in all things, the word of Scripture that He fought with vehement cries and tears in order to overcome and deny His own will—without ever sinning!

In order to become a faithful, merciful, and understanding Mediator between God and man, “He had to be made like His brethren in all things.” Praise God, now and forever more, that this beloved Son of God, who rejoiced in glory before the Father’s face, would humble Himself to such an extent for our sakes!

All glory to God and the Lamb! Glory to the man Christ Jesus! O how they will sing of Him throughout all eternity! What is it that is so great? Can you guess? Everything in me praises Him for this unspeakably self-sacrificing, great achievement.
