Jesus Christ, of the Seed of David, Was Raised From the Dead
“Remember that Jesus Christ, of the seed of David, was raised from the dead according to my gospel.” 2 Tim. 2:8. The fact that Christ was raised from the dead was of great interest. However, what was the significance of it in connection with His being descended from David? It was, of course, that it greatly strengthened all those who were partakers of the same flesh; it strengthened their faith that they, by the power of the same Holy Spirit in which Jesus conquered the flesh, would also succeed in conquering the same flesh!
They were to remember that Jesus had not taken upon Himself the nature of angels or the flesh of Adam before the Fall, but that according to the flesh He came of the seed of Abraham, of the stem of Jesse, of the seed of David out of dry ground, as Isaiah so aptly puts it!
We are to remember this so that it may powerfully strengthen us in faith that also from our dry ground a tender plant shall grow up which shall bear precious and blessed fruit! Glory to God and to His Son, Jesus Christ, the blessed Lamb of God!
He has wrought a great and wonderful work! His name is “Wonderful.”
