Before the Lord
“Then Moses said to them: ‘If you do this thing, if you arm yourselves before the Lord for the war, and all your armed men cross over the Jordan before the Lord until He has driven out His enemies from before Him, and the land is subdued before the Lord, then afterward you may return and be blameless before the Lord and before Israel; and this land shall be your possession before the Lord.’” Num. 32:20-22.
“If you arm yourselves before the Lord for the war . . . .” How do we do that? We do this by purifying ourselves, so that we are made white and are refined, as it says in Daniel 12. Then, in this purified state, we attack our enemies by always keeping our purity before the Lord. No impurity can withstand such elite troops. They will cross over the Jordan, but they won’t stop there. They will force their way into the land before the Lord, and He in turn will drive out His enemies from before Him.
If the children of Israel had kept their purity and had always been armed to stand before the Lord, no enemy could ever have taken the land away from them. But because of idolatry and ungodliness, God allowed enemies to come and even exile Israel to foreign lands.
We must take possession of the land, armed before the Lord, and then we must live before the Lord if we want to keep the land that we have conquered before the Lord.
