Dear Br. Elias Aslaksen,

Thank you for the postcard and the five new subscriptions. I hear that Br. Emanuel Pettersen is in Hønefoss. I’m glad to hear that, since I know that the bonds of brotherhood will be strengthened by the grace that has been given to you in Christ Jesus. Br. Pettersen is more stable now than ever before, and the other brothers in Sarpsborg are making good progress. Nevertheless, they still need guidance in God’s word, and it would certainly be very beneficial if you were able to spend a few days in Sarpsborg. Not this coming Sunday, but the Sunday after that would work well to visit Sarpsborg, because several will have time off from the factories. You should let them know about your visit ahead of time so that they don’t all travel to Fredrikstad that day. There is an intense battle going on there, and I doubt that any of them have much experience with that kind of thing. Nevertheless, by God’s grace, we did everything we could to stir them up when we were with them last Thursday. They have to fight their own battles, but they need training. The harvest is great, but the laborers are few.

God has given you a “flying start,” dear brother, and if you faithfully care for those things God wants you to care for, then your future is secure. The leaven is working mightily in many places. The friends from Sarpsborg are working effectively in Fredrikstad. I believe that Emanuel Pettersen is able to influence Br. Axel Wold; and if he can be won, he will be able to reach many believers in Moss and the surrounding area. But just as leaven spreads particle by particle, so this work also must be conveyed from person to person.

Now there is an opportunity to work like never before. Therefore, use the time dear brother, and you will see rich results from your labor. I’ve never doubted that you make good use of the time, but I believe that God also wants to use you in other places. I think you’ve done the right thing in nurturing the friends in Hønefoss so that they become established; but now that traveling has become so easy, both by land and sea, it won’t take you long to travel to a place and quickly return.

Aksel is in Kristiansand now and is planning to relax a little at Hæstad’s place out in the country. He intends to use the time to write. He has already sent in several new subscriptions, and we now have 907 subscribers. God has given the paper a really good beginning, and I believe that He will continue to bless it. In this day and age, when people work without any aim or purpose, we must always be goal-oriented in our work.

Those who have received the baptism of the Spirit but have not entered into the fellowship of Christ’s sufferings must now allow themselves to be persuaded to enter in, or else it will end in disaster, since their barren pastures no longer have any nourishment to offer.

Greetings to your wife, and greet the friends with 1 Pet. 5:6-12. Read Ex. 32:25 for yourself, and see the context in which it is written. From that you can see that faithfulness and decisiveness must be exercised.

Warmest greetings with Ps. 5:3.

Your brother,

Johan
