“Blessed are the meek,

“Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.” Matt. 5:5. It is certain that this Word is heeded very little. Yet it is particularly significant. It is more meaningful than ever in this day and age. Wars and conflicts rage as never before in every respect and in every direction. There is a terrible lust for power. Insane wars rage between individuals and between nations!

In the final analysis, none of those who are now fighting shall win anything at all of the things for which they are fighting! But the meek, the quiet, the peaceful, those who commit everything into God’s good hand, who do not argue or fight over any of these things—they shall inherit everything!!!

What a wonderful decision! What a wonderful judgment! There will be no appeal to a higher court because there is no higher court.

I am reminded of a story in a schoolbook: Two boys were arguing about which of them should keep a nut that they had found. One of them said he saw it first, the other one said he picked it up first. A bigger boy came along and offered to settle the dispute. He cracked the nut open, gave one half of the shell to the boy who saw it first and the other half of the shell to the one who picked it up. “And this,” he said, putting the kernel in his mouth, “is for me because I settled your quarrel!”

This was, so to speak, a godly, just decision in full agreement with Matthew 5:5. The peacemaker had earned the nut! The others were hardly worthy of half a nutshell!

Just think, if women today, by a living faith in Peter’s word and by their own personal experience, could give a weighty testimony about what they gain, both in their own lives and in the lives of others, by adorning themselves with a meek and quiet spirit instead of wanting to rule over, dominate, contradict, and argue with their husbands and others about all sorts of trivial things! Oh, just think of it!

We who believe enter into rest from all this madness. Are you one of them? If not, then hasten to become one, because time is short!
