“Let all bitterness, wrath, anger…

“Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you with all malice.” Eph. 4:31.

Look at this verse carefully as an example. Read it through thoughtfully a few times in light of our main theme—rest in God. What do you find? You find that there is a tremendous contrast between these vices and anything that can be called rest in God. What an unspeakably great advantage and deliverance it is for us to enter by faith into “that rest” as it is written in Hebrews 4!!!

Just think of all the ugly and peace-destroying sins we can get rid of by entering into God’s rest, by bringing our bad-tempered and noisy souls to silence like a child quieted at its mother’s breast.
