“The Lord is my shepherd;
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters.” Ps. 23:1-2.
Study these words of Scripture long and hard. If this is true of you, or if you have a living hope for it, then where does all your unrest and worry fit in? What is there left to argue about? What will happen to all the terrible, unnecessary strife and commotion?
Just look carefully at the last verse of this psalm. Have you ever read anything so striking, so sensational, and so diametrically opposed to all of this world’s understanding? There it is clearly written in black and white that instead of my chasing after all the good I need, all goodness will follow (pursue) me all the days of my life!!!
You might almost think it was a printing error if you really stopped to think about what it says. But the error is not a printing error; there are other errors that are at play here.
The first error is that most people have never really completely surrendered to Christ. It is hypocritical and untrue for such people to say that He is their shepherd. He is obviously not their shepherd in reality. They are their own shepherd and go their own way so that even if they did seek goodness, they would not find it. On the contrary, goodness runs away from them.
We can also say that this word of Scripture does not profit them because it has not been mixed with faith in their hearts. But we who believer enter into an exhilaratingly glorious and restful life.
How is it with you, my dear friend? If you are not there yet, you are cordially welcome!
